The official program of Pope Francis’ visit was announced by bishop Giuseppe Pasotto and Deacon Edvard Gogilashvili at a press conference today.
Pope Francis is expected to arrive in Georgia on September 30th. He will then meet with the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, at 15:30.
At 16:00 the Pope will address the government, society and diplomatic corps at the Presidential Palace.
At 16:40 a meeting with Patriarch Ilia ll is planned in the Patriarchate of Georgia, where the heads of the church will give the speech
At 18:00 Pope Francis is scheduled to visit an assyrian-chaldean assembly in Saint Simon’s catholic church, where he will pray.
On October 1 the Pope will hold a mass at 10:00am in the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium [also known as the Locomotive Stadium, 76 Chavchavadze Ave.].
At 15:45 Pope Francis will meet monks, nuns and priests at the Catholicum Cathedralis de Domina Virgo Maria Tphilisensis/Triphelisis [on 4 Abesade str.]
At 17:00 Pope Francis will meet with companies which have made financial donations of the church and their employees.
At 18:15 the Pope will visit Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta, where he will again meet with Patriarch Ilia ll.
At 07:55 the Pope will hold a goodbye ceremony at Tbilisi International Airport before departing for Baku
As bishop, Giuseppe Pasotto told journalists at the press conference, the mass will be open for everyone regardless of their religious views.
