Tbilisi’s first electric vehicle charging stations opened on Saturday. The charging points, located in Europe Square and at the beginning of the road to Turtle Lake, will allow owners of electric cars to recharge their vehicles for free.
Lekvinadze said that he welcomed the initiative of the company, E Space, to install the chargers, and added that City Hall had leased the sites for the chargers for free.
Imports of electric cars to Georgia are tax free and there are an estimated 50 electric cars in use. By 2017 plans are in place to roll out 100 electric vehicle charging stations on highways and in regions across Georgia.
