Value of Food Imports to Georgia Falls by 19.4%

According to data released by Geostat, the value of food and drink imported to Georgia has fallen by 19.4% between January and September of this year. Over the same period last year, food and drink imports were valued at $736 million, while this year they fell to $616 million.

It is believed that a fall in the value of the Georgian Lari has lead to a reduction in the number of people purchasing imported goods.

  • 2013 - $1.088 Billion, Growth by 0.1%

  • 2014 - $1.081 Billion, Reduction by 0.2%

  • 2015 - $905 Million, Reduction by 20%

  • 2016 (9 months) - $616 Million, Reduction by 19%
