With visa liberalization to the Schengen zone in place since March 28, 2017, Georgian citizens are now able to travel more easily on the territory of the Schengen countries, creating a rise in Georgian tourists.
According to data provided by the National Bank of Georgia, 103 million GEL was spent abroad in May 2017 by plastic cards issued in Georgia. This indicator is a record high and is 49% higher compared to the same period last year.

Regarding operations on the territory of Georgia, the amount of money spent using plastic cards in May 2017 was 1.5 billion GEL, out of which 171 million GEL was spent by foreign plastic cards.
