Two 16-year-old high school students have died following a knife fight on Khorava Street in Tbilisi’s Vera district yesterday.
One of the students died of multiple severe stab wounds before reaching the hospital on Friday, December 1.
The second student underwent surgery and remained in grave condition, but died today of his wounds. The doctors were unable to save his life.
According to preliminary information, the fight started in School #51.
One person born in 2001 was arrested by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the grounds of intended murder.
The person who wounded the second student has not been found yet. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has established a suspect and started operative-investigative actions.
An investigation is ongoing under Article 109 of the Criminal Code that constitutes intended murder.
President Giorgi Margvelashvili expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
“Today’s reality surrounding us is tragic. I express my condolences to the families of the students and I hope that we will never face this reality of losing our children. When we have to face it, we will be strong, organized, and ready so that such things will never happen,” he said.
