Conclusion drafted on 17 May events, MP Beselia


Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights drafted a conclusion on 17 May events when thousands of anti-gay demonstrators violently thwarted gay rights rally in the center of Tbilisi. Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, Eka Beselia said on June 17 that the Committee is currently discussing the draft conclusion.
"We have drafted the conclusion that includes all main aspects of what happened during and after [the incident]. The main part of the document highlights that the right of expression should be respected by any group. The conclusion also mentions the forms of reaction that followed these facts," Beselia said.
The draft conclusion on 17 May events was drawn up following a statement signed by 12 thousand citizens sent to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.
