37 citizens of Georgia arrested in Rome


Italian law enforcers arrested 37 citizens of Georgia, three of them women, in Rome on 18 July. The detained persons have been accused of robbing more than 50 apartments throughout Italy.

According to the investigators, the detainees were opening the locks of the apartment doors with special tools that did not leave any traces. The law enforcers suggested that the tools were produced in Georgia and sent to Italy. According to the Italian media outlets, members of the criminal group were stealing jewelry, computers and money.

Special operation held by the Italian police to arrest the citizens of Georgia accused of robbery was called St.George, Italian media reported. Law enforcers detained 14 members of the Georgian criminal group in 2012, according to media reports.
