President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met his US counterpart Barack Obama in frames of his visit to the United States on 23 September. President Saakashvili thanked Barack Obama for the cooperation between the two countries.
President Obama told Mikheil Saakashvili he is leaving "great legacy of democracy and reformed Georgia." The US President asked Saakashvili about his plans after his presidential term expires. Saakashvili said besides politics, he wants to work in educational sector, adding that he plans to launch a presidential library in Tbilisi. Obama called the idea "terrific."
"Once again I want to express my gratitude for your strong messages while on visit to Russia. Currently the region is passing very turbulent period to paraphrase you. The situation will become much worse before it gets better, but I want to ask you to stay focused," Mikheil Saakashvili told the US President.
