President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili met the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, William Lahue on 22 April. According to the President's Press Service, the sides discussed Georgia's North Atlantic prospects and the process of NATO integration.
The sides also touched upon the internal and foreign challenges of Georgia, the Press Service reported. Considering the situation in Ukraine, one of the main topics of the meeting was the prospects of deepening cooperation in the spheres of energy and transport between the countries in the region.
Margvelashvili and Lahue talked about the upcoming NATO summit in Wales and expressed hopes that the progress that Georgia has achieved in terms of NATO integration will be reflected at the summit.
The meeting was held at the Presidential palace and was attended by the National Security Council Secretary, Irina Imerlishvili, the President's Advisor for Foreign Affairs, Ivane Machavariani, and the head of the President's Administration, Lasha Abashidze.
