The Georgian Minister for Culture and Monument Protection, Guram Odisharia said on 24 June that opera singer, Tamar Iveri has her own opinion and "there is nothing tragic" in her statements.
"Let's say that personally I have a different opinion. Whoever thinks differently, it is their own opinion and it is acceptable, it is their own life. We are born with one life and Tamar has her own opinion and there is nothing tragic here," Odisharia told Rustavi 2 TV station.
Opera Australia stopped Georgian soprano Tamar Iveri's contract over her homophobic comments made a year ago, when Iveri compared LGBT persons to "faecal masses". Opera Autralia said in a statement that Iveri's statement was "unconscionable".
