Vladimer Nadareishvili, brother-in-law of the former Defence Minister, Bacho Akhalaia was detained on 21 July on charges of illegal restriction of freedom and extortion, the Interior Ministry press office told Tabula.

According to MIA, in November 2013 Nadareishvili's car was damaged in an accident. The car was insured in one of the insurance companies, the Interior Ministry said. The insurance company committed to paying a certain amount money, however Nadareishvili claimed the amount was not enough, according to the Ministry.

"Vladimer Nadareishvili illegally restricted freedom of one of the employees of the company and was trying to extort more money under the weapon threat," the Interior Ministry representatives said.
